HOFNER GUITAR WIRING

HOFNER MODEL 4574/VERITHIN STEREO THINLINE GUITAR - c1966

COURTESY OF CARL KAYE, AUSTRIA:

After purchasing the guitar, Carl discovered that his Hofner 4574 Stereo model guitar had been fitted with a single mono jack socket, with both stereo hot wires soldered together to the tip of the output socket. This obviously did not allow for stereo operation and it allowed only for output from each individual pickup on "1" and "2" positions on the selector switch, and both pickups together as mono on both "All" and "ST" positions.  In addition, the selector switch itself was broken.

The following photos demonstrate the work that Carl undertook to ensure that his guitar worked as originally intended with stereo output on selector switch position "ST", together with providing us with the correct details for the connections onto the original (but complex) four-way selector switch provided on the guitar by Hofner.
