At the time when this prototype was made, Hofner were presumably considering the use of a Lyre tailpiece on their new Verythin Standard model.
A similar prototype, but one with an un-bound neck, being inspected by Dieter Fischer - Hofner's master luthier during that period. This photo appears in the Hofner Catalogue of 2003.
