WATKINS / WEM AMPLIFIERS

THE WEM POWERCAT ECHO AMPLIFIER COMBINATION (1965 to 1967)

Possibly intended as a replacement for the Watkins Joker, the Powercat was a combined guitar amplifier based on the 15watt WEM Custom 15 two-channel combo with tremolo, and the MkIII Copicat tape-echo. This concept seems to have been unique amongst equipment manufacturers to WEM, but it certainly made full use of the company's very successful Copicat machine.  ThePowercat was itself superseded  by the WEM Deep Blue amplifier/echo combination in 1967.
