OLAF'S COMMENTS ABOUT HIS GUITAR:

"I bought this one through Ebay, and it was in a disasterous condition. I had to re-paint it, install one new pickup and knobs, cut a new scratchplate using the old one as a template. I removed the paint from the neck and found an outstanding maple wood with standing year rings.

The string spacing is bigger than originally. I filed the bridge down until the string notches vanished. Then I filed in new slots with a bigger distance - as wide as possible in respect of the neck width - so I could play the bass with my fingers without any problem.

Secondly, I grinded off some wood of the body. If you look on the bass standing upright, the lower right hand rounding of the body was smoothened a few millimetres. The reason is, those old 185 basses and the 176 models do not look well in this area. In a way, the radius starts too late, so I compensated for this.

Well - its an oddball, but it sounds great!"
