MIKE HILLMAN'S HOFNER GUITAR COLLECTION
1956 HOFNER COMMITTEE (Serial No. 2234)

Mike Hillman - "The pictures speak for themselves. This is the centre piece of my collection. This 1956 model is in almost pristine condition (another one that I just had to have). I
also own the Committee which formerly belonged to Daniel Lee and is featured on your website. Pictures are courtesy of Michael Skehan from Great Guitars Australia, from whom I bought the guitar."
c1966 HOFNER M0DEL 4700

Mike Hillman - "Unfortunately, the previous owner resided in the Mississippi delta region, and the humidity there has caused quite heavy lacquer checking. Apart from that, it is a superb example of the model. It appealed to me so much that it was another guitar that I just had to have, (a Golden Hofner is just not a possibility out here in Aussie!). I hope the photos do it justice."
1961 HOFNER CLUB 60 (Serial No. 1159)

Mike Hillman - "I purchased this guitar from
England, and it was previously owned by a guy called Alan Rogan. Unfortunately, due to the value of the Australian Dollar at the time, import taxes, and quarantine fees, this guitar cost me almost twice as much as I could have got one for in Australia. I just had to have a blonde one though! This is a 1961 model, full original, and with a Selmer Serial Number."
HOFNER SUPER SOLIDS (HEAVILY MODIFIED!) (Serial Nos 935 & 2248)
-
Mike Hillman - "The blonde one was my very first guitar (I learnt to play on this one). It was originally a Super Solid II, but as you can see it has been heavily customised. I had the pickguard custom made and I installed the electronics (now a Strat-type set up). This is my main guitar (I use it for live work). The black one, I purchased from a "Trash and Treasure" market for A$ 50 (approx £20). It had been converted to a "heavy metal" guitar (i.e. one pickup and only a volume control), and could have been a Super Solid III. I installed the pickguard and electronics. This is my backup guitar for live work. Both these guitars have serial numbers, and were therefore originally Selmer distributed"
Mike's other two Hofners are featured in the Archtop's Section of the Visitors' Galleries.
