c1966 HOFNER MODEL 4574/E3 ELECTRIC GUITAR

A fairly rare guitar in that it is factory fitted with three pickups instead of the two usually fitted to a 4574/Verithin. The 4575, which was the active electronics version of the series, was however always fitted with three pickups, and the three slide switch pickup control consul as fitted to this 4574. Maybe, we should call this guitar a 4574 and a half!

Also fitted is the Hofner tailpiece type vibrato. Only very occasionally were Bigsby units fitted in the factory, although this type was frequently fitted by Selmer to the UK and Commonwealth destined guitar after delivery to the UK. Selmer had a licence from Bigsby to produce their vibrato units in the UK, and this is why no Selmer distributed archtops are seen equipped with the Hofner units as fitted to this European/US market guitar.
