INTO THE PRESENT - THE NEW HOFNER SOLID GUITARS
Hofner have introduced two solid electric guitars back into
their catalogue. There is one conventional model called the Colorama with a choice of pickups,
and......... a re-issue of the Hofner Shorty "travel-guitar". These are being manufactured in China, with setting-up undertaken at the Hofner facility in that
country.
In order to ensure the originality and "character" of the Hofners
of old, such features as "vine-leaf" headstock details, and triple fret
marker dots has been incorporated into the new Colorama guitars' design.
A brief description
of the new
models, together with photographs,
is provided below.
Note: The H179 prototype previously shown on
this is
page, is not now to be progressed into production. However, more German made
models are expected to be introduced in the near future. Watch this space !!
THE HOFNER COLORAMA SOLID ELECTRIC GUITAR

Hofner "flyer" illustrating the
prototype Hofner Shorty. Note the separate tailpiece and bridge used on the
prototype. The production version uses a combined bridge/tailpiece unit - just
like the original 1980's guitars.
