SOREN TELLS THE STORY OF HIS BASS:

I've bought this from my drummers kid brother in about 1992. He had it from his father, who didn't use it anymore. I used it a few times as an alternative to the 500/1 during my time as a bass player in the early 90s. It has an, even deeper, even more acoustic sound than the 500/1 but is a bit hard to control sound-wise due to the lack of top end. It's a very nice player though. I haven't used it much since, though I sat in once with a blues band playing this through my Vox AC50 with Vox Foundation 1x18" cab. A lovely match - do I have to say "very boomy", but anyway good for the occasion. A couple of years ago I took out the pots to check what year it was made. The pots says week 40, 1965, so I presume it's a late 1965 or most likely a 1966. I hope the occasion for trying it in the studio will come up someday. By the way, it still has the original, though rather tatty, black case with the green snooker felt inside - very cool.
