RESTORED HOFNER MODEL 182 SOLID BASS
GUITAR
PHOTOS COURTESY OF MARTIN KUNZ, VIENNA

(THE GUITAR IS OWNED BY JOHANN HOEDI)

The guitar body before
restoration commenced.
MARTIN DESCRIBES THE RESTORATION:
"What has been
done? Virtually everything.
Dead neck
pickup rewound with original wire. (Although Hofner pickups are
terrible - two out of five pu's are dead today, and many
owners don't even recognise).
Complete fret-job
and overhaul of the neck, including the coloured headstock, after
several pre-owners' trial & error games fitting
various sets of non-matching machine heads. The new
machines are nickel-plated Schaller 2000s, to match the rest of the
metal hardware.
Body
refinished to match the original colour found in the pu-wire-channel.
(See picture of the bass in the just-received condition)
All bits and
pieces restored. New Hofner-logo, new radio-knobs, and well - a new set
of medium-scale strings fitted - Sounds like a hounddog!
:-)............"
