In December 2012, at the end of Höfner's 125th Anniversary Year, the decision was made to introduce a very special range of German-made guitars and basses. The intention was that these instruments would be produced in very small numbers and that they would be based on standard German-made models but using a range of custom finishes or different hardware to the usual.
Actually, we did all think that the Gold Label range had been discontinued in 2014, but a few more guitars with the gold labels on the headstock started appearing again in 2015. Well, that's Höfner for you!
The following examples are not a complete catalogue of all
the various finishes produced, but they do provide a good indication of the Gold
Label instruments.

Not strictly a "Gold Label" bass because it was produced before the brand was introduced. It is however in the same spirit as the later Gold Label basses.
