The Clavoline was a small keyboard which packed into the seperate amplifier unit for transportation, and which was intended for use as a suplementary unit to a piano. JMI (Vox) manufactured a similar unit called "The Univox".
These types of units were used extensively by small dance band trios in the UK during the late 50's/early 60's by the pianist in order to add a little variety to the piano, double bass, and drummer (on the brushes only!)
