The bass was purchased in 1960 by Hellmuth Schönfelder in Munich which was where he lived at that time. Hellmuth played the bass for some time but latterly it has been in its case for many years. Sadly Hellmuth died in 2011 and the bass passed to his daughter Bettina Zambrano who decided that though she loved her Dad’s bass she wanted it
to be with someone who would appreciate it. In consequence I purchased the bass from Bettina in June 2013. The bass is completely original including the case and strap. I shall be keeping the bass together with a picture of Hellmuth hung beside it.
