This Golden Hofner probably started off as an electric version, but has been modified by a previous owner. DeArmond pickups have replaced the original Hofner "Toaster" type, and conventional 2 x Volume + 2 x Tone + Three- way Selector switch now replaces the original rectangular Hofner control console. The original Hofner escutcheon tailpiece and Type 72-20 bridge have been replaced by a Gibson Byrdland tailpiece and a Gibson-style tune-o-matic bridge.
