CASE EXPLAINS ABOUT HOW HIS GUITAR ACQUIRED THREE PICKUPS:

I purchased it from the Gerittsen Music store on the Boekhorststraat, The Hague, Holland in 1960 I believe; July perhaps. I still have that receipt.

The two pickup 128 was in their show window. After paying for it, I asked the shop to add a third pickup. It was awhile before it was ready.  (I do not know exactly who added the pickup.) I was disappointed with the result however, as the control was just added ( hole drilled in the body )above the rectangular existing controls and the Pick guard was just placed in the carry case and not installed. So I made the following modifications modified the guard so that it would fit with the new 3rd pickup.:

I created a new control cover to accommodate the third control using the same white pearloid material. I still have the original narrow rectangular control cover.

Case in 1960 with his three-pickup Hofner 128, his 500/1 Bass Guitar, and a home-made bass modelled on the Hofner Club-style shape.
