1960's HOFNER MODEL 457 ACOUSTIC ARCHTOP GUITAR

 The superb red sunburst finish on this guitar is very unusual for a Model 457, just as is this type of tailpiece. The neck/headstock is post-1960, and that type of bridge is usually found on post-1965 Hofner archtops. However...........the body was made sometime before 1956 - see below.

Note the centre strip running down the length of the back, which indicates that the body was made prior to c1956.

Note the multiple binding around the neck. The 457 neck usually had a single-layer binding. (The multi-layer was usually reserved only for the top-of-range archtops such as the 463, 464, and 468 models.)
